Four Wellness Hacks For Your Lazy Side

By Theagarajan_CML

I addressed keeping a lemon on hand at the office several blogs ago and as I’m sure you’ve probably noticed, I try and address healthy ways to live life for people constantly on the run.

I also really love lists (if you have NOT noticed), so here are four wellness hacks that you can do on a daily basis to aid in that goal:

  • Drink lemon water. Anyone else been hearing about alkaline levels and trying to alkalize your body? Whenever I go into a health food store, their shelves are stocked with PH-balanced waters with 9.5 PH and so on. Even though the theory of drinking alkaline water has not been conclusive in preventing disease, there are some very interesting articles regarding PH balance and your body. Drinking lemon water is one way to alkalize the body. Even though lemons are acidic, they contain high alkaline mineral content which may potentially aid in flushing out toxins. If this new trend interests you, I recommend doing your own research. Here’s a helpful link:

  • Go open-faced. Try reducing your carbohydrate intake a couple times per week by opting for open faced sandwiches.

  • Get your stretch on. I feel like if I say yoga, inflexible people will cower into the shadows. Try laying on the floor with your legs up against the wall. Something as simple as this pose has been said to aid in relieving tired legs, stretches your hamstrings and can aid in lymphatic drainage. Spending ten minutes a day (I choose the mornings) to stretch out the body and be self- aware can significantly increase your mental well-being.

  • Don’t skip breakfast. You’ve heard this ever since grade school. There’s a reason people keep repeating it – it’s important! Even if you take five seconds and grab a banana, it will probably make it less likely that you’ll reach for that doughnut or overly fattened, sweetened, carbo- loaded pastry.
